Assessing Regenerative Natural Capital Opportunities (ARNCO)
ARNCO will assess the feasibility and scalability of an innovative financing and investment model that incentivizes bringing more acres under regenerative agriculture management. The model is currently known as the Steward Ownership (SO) Model or and it pools the financial resources and expertise of agricultural producers (i.e. farmers and ranchers), conservation groups and impact investors so they can deliver greater financial, environmental and social outcomes.
Of particular interest to the project is identifying the roadblocks that could prevent SO from operating at scale in Alberta and how the model can be designed to be adaptable and work effectively in the various and diverse farming and ranching we have here in the province.
At a deeper level, the project aims to promote equitable land access, strengthen ecological resilience and support regenerative land stewardship rooted in community values and long-term vision—building a lasting legacy for future generations.
